N2  - Zinc phosphide normally serves as a rodenticide but is occasionally ingested for suicide, potentially causing multiorgan failure. Phosphine gas is commonly in use for fumigation of grain silos and shipping containers.We describe a suicide attempt of a 54 year old female, the clinical symptoms, the treatment, the chemical and biochemical background and we give information on the potential occurrence of zinc phosphide and phosphine gas.<p />  <p>Language: de</p>
