TY - JOUR PY - 2010// TI - Transportation practices in community college athletics JO - Community college journal A1 - LaVetter, David A1 - Kim, Hyun Duck SP - 449 EP - 461 VL - 34 IS - 6 N2 - Over 45,000 U.S. community college athletes were transported to events during 2005-2006. Transporting college athletes has been an overlooked risk management issue facing administrators. Team travel accidents have caused death, injury, liability claims, property loss, and grief. National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) member institutions' athletics administrators (N = 140) responded to questions related to their transportation practices, including 15-passenger van usage. This study identified transportation practices within community college athletics. Recommendations from athletics administrators and the National Transportation Safety Board are discussed to facilitate passenger safety and decrease institutional liability.
