N2  - The "Ziegarnik effect" is a learner's tendency to recall uncompleted tasks longer than completed ones, to remember failures more easily than successes. For those special educators sensitive to the Ziegarnik effect, who are unable to stop thinking about students with emotional and behavioral disorders who are not benefiting from our programs and teachers who resist innovation, addition of a non-rational, experiential variable (Epstein, 1994) to Bandura's (1986) personal factor provides a theoretical basis for explanation and suggests what will be necessary for more effective intervention.
