TY - JOUR PY - 1939// TI - Recent approaches to the study of the preschool child. III. Influence of parental attitudes upon child behavior JO - Journal of consulting psychology A1 - Updegraff, R. SP - 34 EP - 36 VL - 3 IS - 1 N2 - A survey of five recent studies analyzing the relationship between parental attitudes and the behavior of children. Adjustment appears to be appreciably affected by tensions over sex and ascendance-submission. Infantile withdrawing types of behavior are related to over-attentiveness in the home environment, while aggressive school behavior seems to be positively related to inadequate home attention. Rejected children appear to be ascendant and sadistic. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved)
