TY - JOUR PY - 2016// TI - Stomach gas as a useful matrix for detecting ante-mortem gas exposure: a case of asphyxia by helium inhalation JO - Romanian journal of legal medicine A1 - Tanaka, Naoko A1 - Takakura, Ayaka A1 - Jamal, Mostofa A1 - Kumihashi, Mitsuru A1 - Ito, Asuka A1 - Ishimoto, Saki A1 - Tsutsui, Kunihiko A1 - Kimura, Syoji A1 - Ameno, Kiyoshi A1 - Kinoshita, Hiroshi SP - 21 EP - 22 VL - 24 IS - 1 N2 - Identification of helium in cases of fatal asphyxia induced by helium is sometimes difficult, due to its low solubility in water and high diffusibility. Lung tissue and intratracheal gas have been reported as suitable matrices for toxicological examination. This report suggests the utility of stomach gas as a matrix for forensic analysis of the presence of helium.
