Specifically, the article discusses: automotive safety, including an analysis of its regulation; the roles played by both the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in measuring automotive safety; the general public's view of automotive safety and the subsequent response by automakers; and several problems regarding current safety measurements.
