TY - JOUR PY - 2016// TI - Acute and long-term outcomes following pediatric traumatic brain injury JO - Journal of Pediatric Neuroradiology A1 - Howarth, Robyn A1 - Blackwell, Laura A1 - Ono, Kim SP - 026 EP - 031 VL - 05 IS - 01 N2 - Pediatric traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the leading causes of death and serious disability among children and adolescents. In this review, the neuropathology and pathophysiology of pediatric TBI will be briefly discussed, including the importance of advanced neuroimaging techniques to assist with acute management and diagnostic accuracy. Then, predictors of outcome and sequelae of injury will be highlighted, across TBI severities, including impact on health-related quality of life. Finally, a case study will be presented to highlight the unique trajectory and outcome in a teenager with a severe TBI.
