N2  - The frequency of depressive symptoms and disorders during adolescence, with its associated suicidal risks, constitutes a major public health problem. This paper discusses the problems linked with the assessment and diagnosis of various depressive disorders and underlines the fact that quite often, depression among adolescents is underestimated, so that its short and long term consequences, particularly in terms of suicidal conducts are completely overlooked.
