TI - The feature and correlation analysis between loneliness emotional experience and suicide attitude among Chongqing primary and middle school students

N2 - OBJECTIVE: To investigate the feature and correlation analysis between loneliness emotional experience and suicide attitude among Chongqing elementary and secondary school students.
METHODS: Questionnaire surveys were conducted among 624 students by using loneliness emotional experience scale and Suicide Attitude Questionnaire. Variance analysis,correlation analysis and regression analysis were applied in data analysis.
RESULTS:(1) Primary and middle school students had low scores in loneliness emotion (2.16±0.49),which were significantly influenced by grade (F=53.18,P<0.001), academic performance(F=19.82,P<0.001),the relation with classmates (F=30.92,P<0.001),main caregivers' parenting style (F=9.26,P<0.001)and the relation of parents(F=30.26,P<0.001). (2) Their scores in Suicide Attitude Questionnaire were between 2.5 and 3.5.Grade and academic performance significantly influenced the cognition of suicidal behavior(F=12.02,5.43;P<0.05), attitude towards euthanasia (F=16.57,5.24;P<0.05) and attitude towards suicides (F=13.18,2.84;P<0.05). Main caregivers' parenting style and the relation of parents significantly influenced the cognition of suicidal behavior(F=3.26,10.15;P<0.05)and attitude towards euthanasia(F=3.00,3.70;P<0.05).Family types significantly influenced attitude towards suicides (F=3.72,P<0.05).(3) Loneliness emotion experience had remarkable negative correlation with the cognition to suicide behavior(r=-0.31,P<0.001) and the attitude to euthanasia (r=-0.28,P<0.001). Loneliness emotion experience'standardized regression coefficient to the cognition of suicidal behavior and attitude towards euthanasia were-0.27 and-0.28(P<0.001), respectively.
CONCLUSION:(1)Primary and middle school students in Chongqing have experienced little loneliness emotion. And they take contradictory or neutral attitude to suicide. Furthermore,their loneliness emotional experience and suicide attitude have all been influenced by several factors.(2) The frequency of loneliness emotional experience among primary and middle school students can remarkably predict the cognition to suicide behavior and the attitude to euthanasia.
