Heavy emphasis is placed on trial strategies and techniques including theme development and motive evidence, opening and closing statements, lay and expert witness testimony, meeting untrue defenses and cross-examination of defense experts, and effective use of demonstration slides. Emphasis is also placed on the initial preparation of the case including coordination of a multidisciplinary response to the investigation, development of background investigation information to supplement medical findings and discovery of "prior bad acts" evidence, difficulties in making appropriate charging decisions, and pre-trial motion practice.
