TY - JOUR PY - 1989// TI - Venturesomeness and impulsiveness: their relation to orientation to authority among adolescents JO - Personality and individual differences A1 - Heaven, Patrick C.L. SP - 1205 EP - 1208 VL - 10 IS - 11 N2 - Previous research (Heaven, Curr. Psychol. Res. Rev., 1989) has shown that the subfactors of impulsiveness are differentially related to orientation to authority among adolescents. Given the association known to exist between impulsiveness and venturesomeness (Eysenck and Eysenck, Psychol. Rep. 43, 1247-1255, 1978), the present study investigated the relationship between venturesomeness and orientation to authority among 251 Australian adolescents. Support was found for the assertion by Pearson, Francis and Lightbrown (Person. Individ. Diff. 7, 89-94, 1981) that venturesomeness is multidimensional, although no support was found for the hypothesis that venturesomeness would be related to orientation to authority. These results are briefly discussed with reference to P, E and N.
