N2  - Security is possibly the defining word of the 21st century. This article explores two issues around security and insecurity that have been of concern to geographers: first, whether there can be any positive change in the Global South, where the poorest countries suffer the highest levels of insecurity; and second, how people manage to walk the line between security and insecurity (in-security) in their everyday lives.
