However, providing an indication of 'threat' of police presence, such as using drone radar, is relatively inexpensive and may work to alleviate some of the speeding problems in work zones. This study was conducted to determine the short-term effects of using drone radar, also called passive or unmanned radar, and the lasting effects of continuous radar signal transmission on the speed of vehicles in a rural Interstate highway work zone in Illinois.
