TY - JOUR PY - 1987// TI - Enhanced FREFLO: modeling of congested environments JO - Transportation research record A1 - Rathi, Ajay K. A1 - Lieberman, Edward B. A1 - Yedlin, Mark SP - 61 EP - 71 VL - 1112 IS - N2 - Preliminary work with the FREFLO macroscopic freeway traffic simulation model has revealed some limitations in the model's ability to realistically simulate some congested flow conditions. The formulation and implementation of an approach that modifies FREFLO so as to address these limitations is described. This approach yields realistic simulation results for moderate, as well as severe, congested flow conditions. The basic formulation of FREFLO and the modifications under this approach are presented. The problems observed under congested flow conditions are described and simulation results from test networks are shown.
