N2  - Qualitative evaluation of pedestrian precincts is important for providing adequate facilities for the elderly, the physically challenged, and children, who are most inclined to use this mode of travel. Evaluation has been attempted by using the qualitative criteria of safety, security, comfort and convenience, continuity, system coherence, and attractiveness. After the levels of activity and use in the pedestrian environments in Munich and Rome were studied, pedestrian environments have been classified into six service levels.
