TY - JOUR PY - 1995// TI - Counseling by telephone: advantages and problems JO - Crisis intervention and time-limited treatment A1 - Lester, David SP - 57 EP - 69 VL - 2 IS - 1 N2 - The many uses to which telephone counseling has been put by mental clinics and by therapists are reviewed. The unique qualities of therapy by telephone are useful for particular kinds of clients (such as those without mobility and those who are resistant to treatment) and for some clients at particularly difficult periods during therapy (e.g., when the transference interferes with therapeutic progress). Issues that have been raised by telephone hotlines, including evaluation of the services, are discussed. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
