Although landslides are a very common phenomenon in Colombia, there is a lack of studies presenting a national and comprehensive spatial, temporal and socioeconomic analysis of these events. This study presents a detailed analysis of the spatial and temporal trends of landslide occurrence in Colombia from 1900 to 2018. Two national landslide databases were consulted and complemented with regional and local landslide catalogues. A total of 30,730 landslides were compiled in the 118-year period. Rainfall is the most common triggering factor with 92% of the landslides registered, but fatalities are concentrated in landslides triggered by volcanic activity and earthquakes, with 68% of the total fatalities. The fN curves for Colombia were plotted, showing a very high frequency of small and moderate fatal landslides. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
