N2  - This paper primarily aims to examine the impacts of sociodemographic and risk factors (smoking cigarettes, alcohol and substance use) as well as school achievement and anxiety-depression on suicidal ideation of Turkish adolescents. Focussing on a nonclinical adolescent sample and based on an ecological riskfactor approach, this study sought to identify risk factors related to suicidal ideation in a sample of 726 adolescents (aged 17-18 years) drawn from the high schools in Ankara, Turkey. More than half of the sample reported that they had suicidal ideation. Suicidal ideation is significantly more endorsed among female adolescents. Regression analysis revealed that there are statistically significant relationships among gender, cigarette smoking, school achievement, anxiety/depression and suicidal ideation.<p />
