TY - JOUR PY - 2019// TI - Energy, transport, and consumption in the Industrial Revolution JO - Behavioral and brain sciences A1 - Tainter, Joseph A. A1 - Taylor, Temis G. SP - e209 EP - e209 VL - 42 IS - N2 - We question Baumard's underlying assumption that humans have a propensity to innovate. Although we cannot accept Baumard's thesis on the Industrial Revolution, it may help explain why complexity and innovation increase rapidly in the context of abundant energy.
