TY - JOUR PY - 2019// TI - Self-inflicted moral distress: opportunity for a fuller exercise of professionalism JO - Journal of clinical ethics A1 - Berger, Jeffrey T. A1 - Hamric, Ann B. A1 - Epstein, Elizabeth SP - 314 EP - 317 VL - 30 IS - 4 N2 - Moral distress is a phenomenon increasingly recognized in healthcare that occurs when a clinician is unable to act in a manner consistent with his or her moral requirements due to external constraints. In this article we outline causes of self-inflicted moral distress and offer recommendations for mitigation.
