N2  - It is feared that the reintroduction of legalized competition 'on the road' between bus operators in Great Britain will result in increased danger both to bus passengers and other road-users. This paper considers firstly, the question of road safety; and secondly, how competition might affect the quality of operators. Also considered is the question of whether competition could affect maintenance standards if competition reduced financial returns to operators.<p />
