Determining the energy equivalent speed of vehicles is one of the key tasks for the expert who analyzes the accident. The paper contains a definition of energy equivalent speed and theoretical basis of its calculation in PC-Crash software. Despite significant scientific progress, there are a few limitations of current methods for determining the energy equivalent speed in terms of accuracy and usability. The results of the simulation programs are highly dependent on the input parameters entered and therefore need to be within a technically acceptable range. The results obtained in simulation programs should also be verified using another method of determination of energy equivalent speed.
