N2  - The Institute of Medicine's (IOM) report on the Future of Nursing: Leading Change recommended that nurses become full partners with physicians and other health professionals in redesigning health care ( Shalala et al., 2011). A subtheme of this recommendation was the need for nurses to assume leadership roles in such collaborations. This included participating to create and implement policy with decision making bodies such as boards of directors, coalitions, and advisory councils. Much of the details in this recommendation focused on health care delivery improvement. It is increasingly understood that to address health issues that are inextricably connected with social issues demands coordinated community efforts ( Haldane et al., 2019). Thus, evaluating the 10-year progress on these Future of Nursing (FON) recommendations also demands consideration of how nurses have lead and participated in the development of community initiatives and created the community connections which facilitate them.<p />  <p>Language: en</p>
