TY - JOUR PY - 1994// TI - Simulation of the Hybrid III Dummy Response to Impact by Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis JO - Proceedings: Stapp Car Crash Conference A1 - Khalil, T. B. A1 - Lin, Tzu-Chieh SP - 325 EP - 343 VL - 38 IS - N2 - The Hybrid III dummy is an anthropomorphic (human-like) test device generally used in crash-worthiness testing to assess the extent of occupant protection provided by the vehicle structure and its restraints systems in the event of vehicle crash. A set of finite element models of the Hybrid III dummy segments were developed in an effort to improve the state-of-the-art in analytical dummy simulations. The dummy models were tested for their impact response and the results were compared with standard dummy and human cadavers experimental data. In all calculation, the model response compared favorably with experimental data, and provided a reasonable level of confidence of the model biofidelity.
