Both height and slope angle of the hood have a clear influence on the point of head crash and thus on the severity of head injuries; a certain influence on the blow against chest and pelvis could be seen, but there was no strong influence on the lower leg impact. A relatively low mounted hood (H equals 85 cm) and a smooth sloping profile would be preferable considering the severity of head injuries. The measured test data make evident that the first impact against the vehicle results in higher values of decelerations and impact forces and in less favorable figures of the employed injury criteria compared to the corresponding measurements during the second impact onto the road surface.
