TY - JOUR PY - 1994// TI - Potential Risk for Vulnerable Road Users From Crash Bar Equipped Off-Road Vehicles JO - Proceedings: Stapp Car Crash Conference A1 - Zellmer, Harald A1 - Friedel, B. SP - 403 EP - 416 VL - 38 IS - N2 - Off-road vehicles equipped with crash bars are increasing in numbers in Western Europe. To evaluate the danger inherent of these vehicles to vulnerable roads users, tests were performed according to the EEVC-WG 10 proposed subsystems test procedure. As a result, the vehicles equipped with crash bars performed worse than the vehicles without crash bars with both the child headform impactor and the upper legform impactor. The loadings to the upper legform impactor were up to two times the value, the loadings to the child headform impactor up to six times the values of the cars without crash bars.
