N2  - This paper describes a database of traffic accident patterns for predicting the effectiveness of future active safety technologies, and its applications. 184 accident patterns were chosen by analyzing and categorizing Japanese annual accident statistics for 2001. The newly proposed estimation method is applied to an existing safety device, the stability control system, and it is verified that appropriate results are obtained.
