TY - JOUR PY - 2022// TI - Evaluation of the impact of speed bumps on the safety of residents - selected aspects JO - Transportation research procedia A1 - Kosakowska, Katarzyna SP - 418 EP - 423 VL - 60 IS - N2 - One of the key elements shaping the safety of city dwellers is an easy and quick access of emergency services to the site of an unforeseen event. Factors that can make this difficult are poorly designed roads and overused road safety devices with the aim to calm the flow of vehicles. One of the important and commonly used traffic stabilisation factors are speed bumps. However, in addition to this role, they can also cause undesirable consequences. Therefore, the aim of the article is to assess the impact of speed bumps on the safety of road users, especially from the point of view of the tasks of rescue services, where every second counts. The article presents an experience in which a vehicle of emergency Services drove over a speed bump at a certain speed and explains why the side effects of such a passing are negative for passengers inside the vehicle, equipment, and the vehicle itself.
