Violence in adolescent couples is a topic of special importance due to the implication in the health and affective relationships of adolescents. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of gender and religion on physical, communication/relationship and psychological violence received by adolescents, and on their satisfaction with life, in addition to the role played by sexist conduct in this violence. The participants were 1,036 adolescents from seven secondary schools in southeastern Spain, aged between 14 and 19 years, of whom 48.1% were men and 51.9% women. To achieve the objectives of the research, together with demographic and personal data, the Life Satisfaction Scale (SWLS) was applied, the Partner Violence Scale developed and validated for this study, which includes three subscales: psychological violence, physical violence, and violence in communication and relationship with others. Finally, the questionnaire on sexist behavior gives information on false beliefs and sexist behavior. The results show higher levels of physical, psychological and communication/relationship violence suffered by men. Although it is men who feel more satisfied with life and who show more sexist behaviour. Religious belief does not intervene in the violence exercised, but it is the practicing adolescents who are more satisfied with life.
