TY - JOUR PY - 2022// TI - On the duration of cannabis effects and the presence of THC in the body JO - Addiction A1 - Mørland, Jørg A1 - Bretteville-Jensen, Anne Line A1 - Bramness, Jørgen G. SP - ePub EP - ePub VL - ePub IS - ePub N2 - When tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the most important psychoactive ingredient in cannabis, is present in sufficiently high concentrations it affects brain function. It is important to know the duration of this effect both for medical and recreational use. New studies indicate that small amounts of cannabis remain present in the brain longer than previously assumed and accumulate with repeated intake. Possible consequences are currently unknown. To guide information-based cannabis choices we call for further research.
