TY - JOUR PY - 2011// TI - Investigation of an evaluation method for pedestrian lower limb injuries JO - Transactions of Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan A1 - Takahashi, Yukou A1 - Matsuoka, Fumio A1 - Okuyama, Hiroyuki A1 - Imaizumi, Iwao SP - 1047 EP - 1052 VL - 42 IS - 5 N2 - Knee ligament failure and tibia fracture are both important in terms of their frequency and long-term consequences in pedestrian serious injuries. This study developed probability functions for these injuries by applying a statistical method to human impact response data available from the literature. In addition, the functions were converted to the relationship between injury probability and injury measures for the Flexible Pedestrian Legform Impactor (Flex-PLI) using response correlations between human and Flex-PLI FE models obtained from a past study.
