TY - JOUR PY - 2010// TI - Effect of drivers' active head movements on motion sickness JO - Transactions of Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan A1 - Wada, Takahiro A1 - Fujisawa, Satoru A1 - Imaizumi, Katsuya A1 - Kamiji, Norimasa A1 - Doi, Shun'ichi SP - 999 EP - 1004 VL - 41 IS - 5 N2 - The goals of this research are to understand relationship between head tilt strategy and motion sickness incidence and apply its result to the design of comfortable vehicle control. So far, we proposed a mathematical model of the motion sickness incidence caused by the head movement in 3D space based on subjective vertical conflict. This paper analyzes effect of the head movement on decrease of motion sickness incidence using the mathematical model. The estimated motion sickness incidence using the proposed model showed that the head tilts toward the inertial acceleration including drivers head movement have effect to reduce motion sickness incidence.
