They accrue significant morbidity and frequent long-term sequelae as well as increased suicide risk in sufferers. Evidence-based treatment of depression in children and adolescents is the subject of intense investigation and debate. This article reviews the current evidence base for cognitive behaviour therapy in this group and makes recommendations for further areas of research.
