TY - JOUR PY - 1982// TI - Time series analysis of fatal traffic accidents involving motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists JO - Proceedings: American Association for Automotive Medicine Annual Conference A1 - Partyka, S. C. SP - 313 EP - 327 VL - 26 IS - N2 - Time series analysis of seven years of data from the Fatal Accident Reporting System shows some interesting seasonal and long-term trends. The number of bicyclist accidents is essentially a seasonal phenomenon with little long-term change. Motorist and pedestrian accidents are also largely seasonal, but have increased in number overall for the seven years available for study. Bicycle accidents can be modeled as a function of motorist and pedestrian accidents. The average age of fatally-injured bicyclists is increasing generally with a pattern of seasonal variability.
