TY - JOUR PY - 1994// TI - Epidemiological aspects of skiing injuries in children under 15. A four-year review JO - Journal of sports traumatology and related research A1 - Molinari, Marco A1 - Bertoldi, L A1 - Zucco, P. SP - 39 EP - 47 VL - 16 IS - 1 N2 - A retrospective survey of 387 skiing injuries in children under 15 during a four-year period (divided into two 2-year periods for the sake of comparison) disclosed an increase in the number of skiers and a lower incidence of injuries. Changes in the anatomical injury pattern are described. The overall findings, and above all the large number of head and collision injuries, are closely related to the development of skiing equipment and materials, a skier's physical condition and conduct on the slopes, and the environment. A major effort is thus required to devise specific materials for children and ensure the more widespread provision of skiing education.
