TY - JOUR PY - 1995// TI - Correlations Between the Cause and Origin of Clavicle Fractures in Rugby Players and Their Treatment JO - Journal of sports traumatology and related research A1 - Moretti, B A1 - Spacca, G A1 - Pesce, V A1 - Lo Bianco, G A1 - Patella, V A1 - Simone, C. SP - 177 EP - 184 VL - 17 IS - 3 N2 - Examination of the cause and origin of 275 clavicle fractures in rugby players has shown that middle-third and lateral-third fractures are typical of tacklers and tackled players respectively. Stress is also placed on the usefulness of echography in monitoring recovery and hence in determining whether the callus is strong enough to allow the resumption of match play. Specific rehabilitation through personalised strengthening of the deltoid and external rotators, coupled with a sufficient understanding of the way in which the several movements and actions in the game should best be carried out, results in early resumption and helps to prevent the occurrence of further injuries.
