TY - JOUR PY - 1992// TI - Safety in a Passenger Car Human Environment JO - Road and transport research A1 - Fildes, Brian N. A1 - Lane, J. C. SP - 64 EP - 73 VL - 1 IS - 1 N2 - The results of a study undertaken recently for the Federal Office of Road Safety in Australia are reported to indicate the epidemiology of occupant injuries for those involved in passenger car crashes. Data were analyzed from seven and one-half years of injury compensation data at the Transport Accident Commission in Victoria and from details obtained from the examination of 227 passenger car crashes where at least one occupant was hospitalized. The crash data indicated the types of injuries sustained by occupants of passenger cars (including points of contact within the vehicle). While the limited number of cases did not permit a full and detailed statistical analysis of these data, the findings nevertheless show there is scope for further improvements in occupant protection.
