TY - JOUR PY - 2017// TI - Some remarks on voluntary death in the Greek mythology JO - Pallas A1 - Voisin, J.-l. SP - 325 EP - 343 VL - 104 IS - N2 - By analysing the 193 suicides which have been identified in Greek mythology, it is possible to draw these principle conclusions: an overrepresentation of the number of female individuals, the role of personal feelings, the importance of jumping to one's death and hanging as the means used. These characteristics contrast strongly with the Roman tradition of suicide which developed before the Second Punic War without being influenced by the Greek pattern.
