TY - JOUR PY - 1997// TI - Reduction in suicidality with clozapine treatment JO - Anales de Psiquiatria A1 - Minguez Martin, L. A1 - Gonzalez Pablos, E. A1 - Sanguino Andres, R.M. SP - 390 EP - 391 VL - 13 IS - 9 N2 - Suicide has been reported to occur in 9-13% of schizophrenic patients. Reduction in suicidality and improvement of depressive symptoms have been reported in schizophrenic patients treated with clozapine. We present the case of a schizophrenic woman. In spite of typical neuroleptic treatment, she had committed lots of severe suicide attempts. After clozapine administration, the patient's psychopathological state clearly improved and suicide attempts almost disappeared. We suggest a new reevaluation of risk-benefit assesment of clozapine, whose use is really limited due to the risk of agranulocytosis.
