N2  - The present study was designed to compare the familiar, social and professional adjustment of children and adolescents with an attempted suicide respect to nonsuicidal adolescent, during a 6 to 10 year follow-up period. The sample consisted of 48 adolescents, 24 adolescents with suicide attempt and 24 controls were examined. Both groups of subjects were matched on demographics characteristics. Main variables studied were family status, pregnancies, abortion, education level, interpersonal relationships, family interaction and work stability. The relation of these variables with repeated suicide attempt is studied. There are significant differences between suicide attempters and controls. Suicide attempters have more involuntary pregnancies, less educational level, more interpersonal and family problems, and more work instability. Unstable and absent personal relationships are the strongest risk factor to attempt suicide again during the follow-up.<p /> <p>Language: es</p>
