TY - JOUR PY - 2000// TI - Acne scarring - Reviewing the need for early treatment of acne JO - The journal of dermatological treatment A1 - Layton, A.M. SP - 3 EP - 6 VL - 11 IS - 1 N2 - INTRODUCTION: Acne represents a common problem which is capable of producing clinical and psychological scarring. The following paper reviews the psychological problems and clinical scarring that might arise from acne, summarises the recognised psychological questionnaires that might help in the assessment of any psychosocial disability and examines the need for early therapy.

CONCLUSIONS: Treating acne early on in the disease's course appears to reduce the clinical scars that may ensue. Effective therapy for acne may also reduce psychological and social disability.
