N2  - Mrs. M was referred for psychoanalysis after a failed suicide attempt, which was preceded, a few months before, by an episode of psychogenic amnesia. In the course of her analysis, the dynamics behind the "dissociative episode" proved to be a function of defensive repression and negation, which influenced the nature and course of her analysis. The material brought to focus a complicated overlap between her father's family romance and her own, revealing an unresolved Oedipus complex.
