TY - JOUR PY - 2002// TI - Distribution of naproxen, dibenzepin and promazine in various tissues after acute overdosage JO - Acta Poloniae Toxicologica A1 - Baczek, T. A1 - Kaliszan, M. A1 - Szpiech, B. SP - 153 EP - 158 VL - 10 IS - 2 N2 - Concentration of naproxen, dibenzepin and promazine in blood, gastric juice, brain, liver and kidney was determined in biological material taken post mortem after acute overdosage, from a female aged 31, by means of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Distribution of the drugs was related to their lipophilicity parameter, log P (logarithm of n-octanol-water partition coefficient). Blood levels of the drugs seemed to correlate with their lipophilicity. However, the relations between drug concentration ratios in different tissues and log P are not straightforward and indicate that not only passive diffusion but also some specific membrane transport mechanisms are involve in distribution. High concentrations of dibenzepin and promazine in the brain were the most probable cause of death of the suicide.
