With the advent of modern vehicle safety systems, such as air bags and impact attenuating crumple zones, the design, manufacture and installation of FPS has become more challenging, and the process needs to be carefully considered. This paper highlights the research undertaken on the impact attenuation of FPS and evaluating the effect that they have on a vehicle's existing crashworthiness.
