TY - JOUR PY - 2004// TI - USN increases Iraqi oil terminal security JO - Jane's Navy International A1 - Brown, N. SP - EP - VL - IS - JUNE N2 - Sailors from the US Navy's (USN's) new Mobile Security Force (MSF) arrived at Iraq's Khawr Al Amaya and Al-Basrah oil terminals in early June 2004, to relieve the Interim Marine Corps Security Force deployed to protect the terminals after suicide boat attacks on 24 April 2004. The MSF is a specially trained and dedicated force designed specifically to counter asymmetric and 'terrorist'-style attacks. The MSF has undergone rigorous training across a number of skill sets, focusing, unusually for the navy, on small arms and crew-served weapons proficiency. Personnel also operate closely with explosive ordnance disposal personnel and USN divers.
