N2  - People have been forced to immigrate due to various reasons. After immigration, when they start to live away from their home, they can find it difficult to assimilate into a new culture. This results in their feeling lonely and furthermore some psychiatric problems. Relation between immigration and mental problems has been discussed in various studies. In these studies, especially among adolescents, mental disorders after immigration, such as" psychoactive drug use, some adjustment and behavior disorders, depression, suicide etc." have been emphasized. We required from a random selection of Turkish students coming from other parts of Turkey and all the foreign students at K.T. to respond a questionaire consisting of questions relating to sociodemographic characteristics, social adjustment and expectations as well as their opinions and leisure activities. We also carried out a number of tests, such as SCL-90-R, Beck Depression Scale among selected students. The survey found that the lower avarage level of somatization, interpersonal sensibility, anxiety, phobic anxiety among foreign and Turkish students from other parts of Turkey are considerably higher than that of students who live in the neighborhood (vicinity) of the university. The results have been discussed comparatively with the literature results.<p /> <p>Language: tr</p>
