N2  - The development of a training mannequin for teaching people to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by Ȧsmund Láerdal is discussed. He worked for two years to develop a mannequin that looked realistic, had a head that could be turned, and a chest that would move as it was inflated. He chose the image Ĺinconnue de la Seine, a young woman with calm and haunting smile, who committed suicide in the river Seine, Paris.
