TY - JOUR PY - 2009// TI - Study to the efficacy of a day hospital withdraw therapy on alcohol-dependent patients: Result of a 24-month follow-up study and prediction of the results JO - Suchtmedizin in Forschung und Praxis A1 - Baumgärtner, G. A1 - Soyka, M. SP - 115 EP - 128 VL - 11 IS - 3 N2 - RESULTS of a clinical follow-up study are reported for the efficiency of a highly structured day hospital therapy on alcohol-dependent patients. 63 patients were included in the study. At 24-month follow-up 70.8% of the patients were successfully personally interviewed. 36.5% had remained abstinent at the 24-month follow-up evaluation. The following predictors were identified for a successful day hospital withdrawal therapy: "Living in the own home", "Being married or living in a constant relationship before starting therapy", "No suicide attempts", "No relapses with alcohol or illegal drugs while being in the day hospital therapy", "Regular termination of the therapy", "Constant relationship at the end of the therapy". Therapeutic implications of these results are discussed and the current knowledge on the efficiency of day hospital patient therapies on alcohol-dependents is presented. © ecomed Medizin, Verlagsgruppe Hüthig Jehle Rehm GmbH.
