The United States Preventive Services Task Force guideline recommends screening for depression in adults when appropriate staff is in place to support depression care and follow-up. Two questions can be used to screen for depression. It is critical to determine the correct diagnosis to provide the optimal care to intervene in the 10% of patients with major depression at risk to commit suicide.
