N2  - Seat belt related injuries following road traffic accidents have been extensively documented.    Investigators have described a "seat belt syndrome" consisting of a wide spectrum of injuries involving the lumbar or cervical spine, abdominal contents.    Major thoracic trauma or injuries to the great vessels are however rare.    With compulsory introduction of seat belts in motor vehicles using a three-point restraint system (shoulder harness and lap belt) a previously undescribed aspect of seat belt syndrome
